Beautiful dreams keep one’s life and heart alive…
Our farm is located at an altitude of 1700 meters on one of the peaks of the Taurus Mountains that is within the borders of Mersin, has around 100 acres of land, and developsin a well-balanced manner to increase our feed production capabilities. We make agricultural products to meet the feed, mineral, and vitamin needs of our animals,on our land, which holds an organic certificate. We produce with all local and non-hybrid seeds and fruits without the need for fertilizers or pesticides, sacrificing some of the yields, that is, the products produced from the unit area.We have proved that our soil and products are free from all kinds of chemical and artificial production methods through various analyses and certificates.
We have almost achieved our goal tohave sustainable agriculture, that is, canceling out external dependency in the real sense; and we continue to thrive each passing day. For example, let’s talk about non-GMO corn cultivation:We use traditional methods that had been used before the invention of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. We reserve seeds for ourselves every year to be able to use them in the next year. Instead of pesticides, we use kinds of vinegar that we produce from fruits and herbs fromour garden. Our chickens and cows eat theseorganic corns, perfectly ferment them and gift them back to us as organic fertilizers, which allows usto pay our debt to the soil by returning these manures to it. We use no chemical substanceson our farm even at the ratios and quantities allowed by organic standards. As we said, we can easily prove this case with all kinds of analyses and certificates.
Each of our products has its own story, but as we started this journey with eggs, we believe they should be pointed out briefly. It all started with a greetingfrom a pharmacist lady and her doctor husband, who were taking a stroll while I was reading something on the land that we bought in the mountains for retiring into seclusion… Three chickens gifted by the villagers… After a lovely chitchat, the wig was removed, and cancer was revealed… When she askedif our chickens laid eggs, my quest for clean/organic food for my mother, who recently passed awayfrom cancer, during her treatment process flashed before my eyes.Surely,I gave some eggs as gifts to this lovely lady.Just as we were chatting about her other friends in the oncology department and the patients of her doctor husband, I found myself cleaning the manure on eggs on the top of the mountain where I went to write and read books. And soour Seyyahın Çiftliği (The Traveler’s Farm) story begins…
Now let’s go over our products one by one.
